Jesus of Malibu Film

Revolution for the Freedom of the Mind "Jesus of Malibu" an Independent Film

By

"I Believe in the Revolution for the Freedom of the Mind"
As a child coming of age in the Washington DC area,   I wanted a revolution, and participated in various pathetic and deluded attempts at "revolutionary" activity, thankfully always stopping short of actual violence, and when I reached the point where I might have been recruited to some of the more reckless and desperate "small-group actions" of the far left in the early 80s, instead I found   hard drugs, or they found me, The drugs did what they were there to do, leaving me depoliticized and truly nihilistic (without even the political connotations of nihilism to justify it).
I "escaped" in 1985, vowing to never again live in the eerie swamp-vortex that helped to create me, and only returned for brief visits that decreased in frequency as the years went by.
I learned in my travels that what C. P.  Kavafy implied in his poem "The City," that your city follows you, travels inside you, and in that sense truly cannot be escaped, was true( at least in my case).
Now I'm back in DC, the specific reasons why are related to practical matters, and as with all things, to money. There is still money here, lots of it, and people are still spending.   I've fallen back on one my recurring occupations through the years, simply hauling objects from one place to another. The competition is heavy, yet the demand still seems to outstrip the supply at times. This is not what I came here to do however; it's just what needs to be done.
The greed, the corruption, the political and economic turmoil touches everything here, to the point where the drivers on the infamous Capitol Beltway, I-495, surpass New York and New Jersey drivers in suicidal and vicious haste.
After less than a month back in this environment I find myself sinking, the air around me draining the life from me and seemingly reaching in to strangle me, and while this period of underemployment has left me with time to pay attention to what's going on around me, to think, and to write, this certainly hasn't improved matters.
As I look at the results of my own failure to act, along with the majority of my generation, wondering what can be done, I realize that I still want a revolution. I will make it clear here that I do not advocate direct action of a violent nature against any structure or social institution, governmental or otherwise. This is not merely because I wish to keep my head attached to my shoulders for a bit longer, although that is certainly a major consideration; it is also because it just won't work!
This does not mean that there will be no revolution. I believe revolution to be not only possibility, but at this point in history, a necessity. We have reached the "end times," not through the fulfillment of prophecy or any other deterministic mechanism, but through human stupidity alone.
How does one face an enemy in possession of nuclear weapons and trillions of dollars to spend? We can look to the Global Elite's primary weapon and control system, "Mindwar" or PSYOPS, for the answer. All of their other control systems depend on this one; which can be seized, and turned back on them.
Quite without warning, through a series of coincidences, a message came through over the internet, from a pair of artists who are still willing to speak the unspeakable, ugly, truth.   Independent filmmakers Anais and William "Billy" Yeager are making a stand, with their film "Jesus of Malibu." Both in and out of character, Billy speaks as  Jesus the Anarchist, overturning the tables of the money changers in the temple, and speaking with the certainty of a true and fearless heretic against the "Belief Systems" (BS)* of all comers. Anais speaks spiritual truths at the most basic level, quoting lines from "The Little Prince," 70s rock lyrics, and the truth of her own heart. The couple packs a powerful one-two punch, hitting at a cerebral and visceral level.
The mainstream media may dismiss them instantly as Quixotic anachronisms, speaking a long forgotten and discredited countercultural polemic against the dominant culture. The politicians and pundits championing America's final descent into a new high-tech dark age will condemn them as dangerous political and religious blasphemers. Anais and Billy don't give a crap, speaking from an allegiance to the fundamental and indestructible nature of truth, and freedom, even at a time when, in Billy's words: "Nobody is free, and that's the truth, and the truth is that people don't want to know the truth."

Anais and Billy Yeager

These two truly dedicated and fearless artists have a message so basic, so simple, and so powerful that it eludes nearly all intellectuals and scholars operating with a purely political and economic model of reality.   I for one will be watching their work closely. I strongly suggest that all dedicated to the cause of freedom of the mind do so too. Check it out:

When we are born we have no alliances. We are born valuing love, curiosity, and beauty. Because of that we seek comfort in our caregivers, we experience the world in constant awe and are mesmerized by the interests that inspire us to dream without limits. We currently live in a culture where “growth” and “adulthood” compromise these innate human qualities. Liberation is needed. We face enslavement so gruesome it falls short of shackles and cages. Its subtle nature makes it hard to see truth and change accordingly. The liberation of the mind needs to happen now. We have the capacity to change the world and end unnecessary suffering but we chose not to. Why? This is because we are held captive to ideologies, distractions, idols, fear and misinformation. As a human community we need to fight the things that imprison us so that freedom of thought and reason can prevail against a culture that is spreading globally.

Jesus of Malibu Film

Jesus of Malibu / My Jerry McGuire Moment

Everyone has a moment in their lives where they take a step back and look around. Sometimes it is the madness that they have helped to create, other times it is the artist struggling to keep afloat in the tar of conformity. Money rules the world right? Right?

The Jom Revolution is one of those memos in the form of unbridled creativity that invokes the evolution of the mind. One does not have to be a "Free Spirit" to understand the message that they are trying to convey.
In mankind's search for innovation our humanity and spirituality have somehow gone missing. The simple complexities of the universe and ether have escaped our view. Children go missing while we focus on whether or not Lindsey Lohan and Charlie Sheen will actually get the millions of dollars they have already made. It has taken over our culture for the better or worse. We will see in the future when nature corrects the imbalances caused primarily by us.
I often wonder is our unconscious thinking that guides us to act like fools or is it our learned insanity.
If one were to observe the industrial time line you could very well see that children where working for untold hours a day whiles their families lived in slums and overall detrimental environments. So America cried foul and booted the Monopolies to fragmented companies who knew only how to do what? Create wage Slaves. If you are not in the one percent of the wealth then you are one. If you cannot go a year without worrying about money then you are obviously a wage slave, or convoluted enough to believe that your investments and assets are safe.

With that being said mechanization is something everyone knows yet sadly fails to realize the magnitude of technological advances. One reason being the chase of the almighty dollar but if you think about it businesses have known and predicted this outcome since it began. Expansion! Expansion! Cut losses and increase consumer spending for profit. Empathy flies out the window if it is not family. Hustle first f**k the rest mentality. Is it not a wonder why we are in the situation that we are in when people are playing monopoly on a grand scale?

I forgot this man’s name and all I had to do was Google Texas oil tycoon buying up water and Boone Pickens came up immediately. T. Boone Pickens: Oil Tycoon Drilling Water in Texas Slavery didn't go away entirely it just evolved into a way that profited the owner more so that the people ie, us didn't realize that the chains were still on. Mentally, Physically, Everything if you don't look at the outlook of ten to twenty years ahead you end up like the baby boomers still working to make ends meet. Water is not called water anymore you might as well start calling it Blue Gold because that which is free to everyone is becoming monetized and sold right back to you without remorse.
Billy and Anais are the first people that I have seen throughout my adult life that have taken their own lives into their hands; Throwing the middle finger to the "man" and marking their territory and claiming it Mother Earth's property. They unearth ancient knowledge through vibrations and energy to share with the masses. The noblest of causes needs no monetary reward.
I am tired of the lies! I am tired of the needless suffering in the name of God! I am tired of following the next man when they are only concerned with personal gain.

It is amazing when you can reach people that you have never met before, show them clips of your project and inspire them to make a difference anyway they can.

I would be willing to help these people just out of spiritual respect. To me, honesty, this project speaks volumes of dedication to make a difference. It obviously does not come easy, a true testament to their beliefs and faith. You have to have a strong resolve to take on structures that are built to fail, a proverbial house of cards that is made out of digital money made up by those who want us not to question and fall in line.

The world is getting tired of walking in cycles of death and retribution only to be lead down the same road another lifetime. I have faith in humanity, and in this day in age that says a lot about faith. While everyone is huddled up in fear I am creating new concepts and relearning the simple joys leaving a crumb trail for future generations. Isn't that one element of existence?

Artists should be free to create at their will, let the universe become their playground.

The Revolution for the Freedom of the Mind

There is a word in the English language called Serendipity. It is a word that can also mean, "a happy accident" or "pleasant surprise". When I saw the trailer for the independent film Jesus of Malibu it was one of those moments. It was one of those moments when you don’t know why you found something, you only know that when you weren’t looking, it somehow found you.

Serendipity has been voted one of the ten English words voted hardest to translate, yet why? It is certainly a phenomenon that we all know from coast to coast and from spirit to spirit. Black or White, Christian or Muslim, serendipity is that moment in time when a set of random variables or circumstances come together in a meaningful way for those who experience it. It can never be seen but it does have a sound, like music being heard, a resonation, a stirring in the soul, where we like instruments become in tune with the notes of each of our own lives.

Jesus of Malibu is an effort not to search for something, but to open the door to what is already there. Our hearts, our minds, to truth, to meaning, for there is this lethargy, this vanity, that the film speaks of that has washed over us, this force that ever seeks to make us forget those real and essential things that are invisible to the eye. This film encourages me to do more to nurture and cherish more of what is valid and special about being human, our capacity for love, individual expression and meaning.

To me the filmography was expansive for the soul, the footage of the desert, the colors, the contrasts were like opening up a panoramic sky with images of nature poetically infused with words, dance and song. It contained an eclectic collection of props like a small child would gather when set out to utilize whatever was available to make something meaningful to play with. I enjoyed the film because I enjoy and appreciate the raw, unassuming, childlike side within each and every one of us and the two characters in Jesus of Malibu were just that! Often art can get too messy, simplicity often can be even more profound than the most convoluted and complicated characters or storylines. When things are created in art in a simple way sometimes this is the most striking. It leaves room for the mind to interpret, to find its own meaning rather than to be swept away by pretentious persuasions and hollow entertainments.

Rather than let life pass by in a mad rush for striving for all the wrong things, this film inspires me to be different. Anais and William may appear to be two sweet and small, baby cubs frolicking around in the desert but they are actually bold lions! Serendipity is, by the way, a Sanskrit word for “dwelling-place-of-lions’ island – and I think lions are a good way to describe their courageous efforts. Especially after watching the footage on their website from a variety of national broadcast television stations naming them as the depositors of the “mystery baby grand piano left on a sandbar in Brisbane, Florida”. I had to laugh in delight at seeing these two likeable and relaxed characters displaying a bit more prowess than your average moviemakers!

Anais and William have created a forum, an idea and hope for art in the future to be something bigger and bolder in spirit and courage to expand and free the mind! For two years they set out to accentuate and nurture something within their own selves to later give back to others in their film, Jesus of Malibu. The mind is such a powerful and yet such a fragile mechanism at the same time. It is capable of astounding acts of kindness and courage and just as equally so of every kind of crime and depravity against nature. The freedom of the mind is something we all have to fight for in whatever way we can. The mind is wayward, never resting from searching, and most often, for all the wrong things and for things that do not appease it. The mind is a constant radar honing in on every kind of impression and perception, easily influenced and drawn astray as William and Anais say, “by the vanities of this world.”

How do I know? I know because I think it is something we all know deep down inside about ourselves, of the duality of our own human nature. It is the battle between the flesh and the spirit. In the trailer of Jesus of Malibu Anais says, “When did man become afraid of his thoughts and feelings?” It is a good question. Perhaps this is why we strive, why we distract, why we retreat into the numbing monotony and conformity of things that are not who we really are.

Jesus of Malibu is not preachy, pompous or narrow although it can be confrontational in the sense of confronting ourselves to define our own roles in society and to bold action against the status quo. More than anything the film gently suggests for us to be conscious, responsible and inquisitive into the nature of ourselves and the nature of others. Encourages us to fight for the freedom of the mind and soul by breaking through barriers of pop culture, politics, religion, by supporting visionary, ‘transcendental art’ over mass-produced mindless entertainment. Not only for the sake of art but also more importantly, for the sake of our souls, for the health and vitality of our lives. Anais and William believe we can change the world. It is said that the whole is only so good as the sum of its parts. My feelings of my own responsibility in that equation has been set into motion in part by Jesus of Malibu - so thank you for playing your special part in mine.

Jesus of Malibu / Family of Artists.

By Ramtin Zanjani, born in 1979 in Tehran, Iran.

Jesus of Malibu / Family of Artists.

The Jesus of Malibu movement is about the revolution of the mind, and the triumph of human consciousness over human ignorance. As an artist who ultimately only wishes to expose truth, to be a part of such a thing is a privilege.

PEACE & LOVE

Jesus of Malibu / Family of Artists.

Jesus of Malibu emulates what I've aspired to find my whole life. A revolution within my own mind, in search of truth deprived of vanity.

This film will bring a breath of fresh air amongst the overused cliches and stereotypes in cinematic standards.

William and Anais Yeager have reached out from their own depth hoping to change the world, or at the very least to stimulate others such as myself towards altruism and the beneficial impact it may hold.
There is no freedom in the enslaved mind, there is no freedom in the secluded one. There are only messages such as this one which can help bridge the gaps of division. Reach out to revolutionize your minds !

Much Love,

Nicola San Giorgio

"I am a real believer in the power of us as people and I would in my image try to capture some of that feeling, which seems from the videos I have watched of Jesus of Malibu film that is a central theme. Fragility and Might. Adventure and Waiting. Heat and Cold. The dualities of Life and Humanity."

I'm french and graphic designer.
After studies in Applied Arts in France, I was working 6 years in an
advertising company. Today, I'm looking for a new creative energy.
I live and work in Berlin since September 2009.

In my work, I try to mix up curiosity, humor, "rudeness".
I'd like to give another face of the daily life... when it's possible !

In Jesus of Malibu, Anais and Billy filmed their own conception of life in a very free way.
That's why I collaborate today in their project with pleasure.
All my compositions are made of ideas that the film has suggested to me. It's my entire own interpretation. No rules. The opposite of the job I used to do in agencies.

I really like the aesthetic of the film, the way they made these beautiful images mixed with serious ideas and comic situations... with a lot of honesty.

Very glad to participate to this project.

"There's not too much people that see chances where problems are, that see the chance to evolve through crisis, but that's the case of Bill and Anais, who without financial or big technical support, but with hearts full of love and minds gifted with common sense they just decided to go for it...and I could totally related to them in that level, and later through the creative process in terms of ideas acting in a beautiful odd synchronicity. Just with my low quality pencils, A4 sheets of paper, the scanner at home and a very basic knowledge about the use of the software in my very old computer. Every line, every shape, form and color represents not only graphic elements features on the film, but also intends through ornamentation to display the message that Jesus of Malibu encloses. Being aware at the same time that this message would not easy to digest for many viewers, this piece is just a friendly fire starter that precedes the explosion that will occur in your mind due to Jesus of Malibu..., arsonists of the reason, revolutionaries of the mind."

I guess if I had to put a thought under the drawing about why I wanted to do it it would be this:

Billy and Anais had a vision to bring something beautiful to the world. So much so that gave up much of their material life, a thing which would be difficult for most of us but I think was easy for them. Because they not only share this vision but they clearly love each other more then themselves.

They are truly an inspiration.

Jesus of Malibu

By Matt SchmidtRevolution_Freedom_Mind_01
We need a revolution for the Freedom of Mind because we need to fix ourselves before we fix others. A clear mind is a focused mind.
Around the world, there is violence, bigotry, corruption, and lies, and all of it can flood the mind with anxiety and fear. I believe the first step, is to focus on you. Literally, look in the mirror and then reflect on the positive abilities and achievements you’ve made so far. Remind yourself who you really are, what you are capable of, and smile. Be focused on the things you want to change.
To change the world around you, you must start with changing yourself. Look to your friends, or others who share similar interests. The right people will help you. This is how ideas generate movements, and movements become societal transitions.
As I’ve watched this year roll out, I still question why people are so manipulated to such harsh things. The corrupt police, the lying politicians, the backstabbing ‘mainstream media’, and the continuous wars in the middle east, are all pressuring the weary people. Police take power to demolish lemonade stands outside Washington DC, because organizers do not carry a business permit. Yes, under the ‘rule of law’, you need a permit. However, does that make it right? No one is getting hurt. A majority of the politicians running for President in the U.S., are accepting corporate and lobbyist money. A lot of them do not address the real concerns and problems of the American people. The ‘mainstream media’ has been excluding a very important politician by the name of Ron Paul, who is running for US president. The media’s job is to report on all politicians and news, instead of favoring one candidate over another. Ever since 9/11, the wars in the Middle East have continued to murder innocent civilians and destroy the United States reputation. It is utterly disgusting and it will stop with our action.
I see a strong amount of fear from the American people, because a lot of us pretend to be comfortable inside our own little bubble of life. There are a great number of citizens, who will accept any form of tyranny until the tanks start rolling down their street.  We must face the reality of tyranny, corruption and the need for a revolution.
As I stated before, it must not start on the streets, with guns, and knifes. It should start in the mind. As people began to realize whom they really are, and tell their friends who to fix the real problems, then we will make a better change.
Let’s turn off the television, clear our minds and focus on who we want to be- not who we are told to be. We are human. We are free. We are a collective group, who holds grand talents, abilities, experiences and stories.
I believe we are much more than what the ‘powers that be’ have forced us to believe. With the right educated mind, we can fix these problems.

Billy Yeager and Anais Yeager Music and Films

Billy Yeager has written and recorded over 2600 musical compositions. In his early 20’s he won several National Songwriting contests. In 1983, he produced his first album, What’s It Gonna Take.  Over 22 of South Florida’s top musicians, such as Dennis Noday, Rex White, Jay Drake, Allan Layton and Diane Sherrow, recorded on the album.

On his second album Be My Valentine, produced in 1985, Billy played every instrument. The album was recorded at Circle Sound Studios, which is the private recording studio of the Inner Circle Reggae BandYeager was the guitar player for the Grammy Award winning band from 1985-1986. “Touter” Harvey and Ian Lewis both were involved in the engineering and production of the Be My Valentine album.
Billy has performed and played alongside musicians such as Doug Ingle from Iron Butterfly, Gerry Morotta from Peter Gabriel, Carmine Appice from Vanilla Fudge, Butch Trucks from Allman Brothers, and Pat Travers.
In 1987 Yeager recorded with Ira Sullivan, Eddie Higgins, and “Mars” Cowling on Stan Jeff Brown’s album Transformation Paradox. Yeager also recorded with Jaco Pastorius who considered Billy one of the greatest guitarists he ever performed with.

In 1983 Yeager recorded a jam session with Jaco and then went to jam live at the Tipperary Pub in Deerfield Beach, Florida. The performance was filmed on VHS by the bar’s owner and was last seen being auctioned online.
From 1985 until 1992 Yeager confined himself to a small apartment in Hollywood Beach. He took a part time job as a janitor; he would wake up every day at 3 a.m. and returned home at 8:00 a.m. This would allow him to be able write and record songs during the rest of the day and develop his own style.
During this period Yeager recorded over 850 songs on his 4-track recorder.
billy yeager bruce hornsby
In 1991 Yeager gave a copy of his original music to Grammy Award Winner Bruce Hornsby backstage at a concert. Bruce called Billy personally from the road while he was performing with the Grateful Dead; Hornsby was so excited about the demo cassette tape, he personally wanted to help Billy receive a record deal with a major label.
Bruce Hornsby, in an interview with Miami New Times, said (regarding the many demo tapes he received), “The bad news and sad truth is that most of them are really terrible. I’ve been inundated with them for years. Billy’s is really different. It’s possibly the only one I’ve ever heard where I thought, ‘This is something.’ Most of these tapes are so badly done. I mean, why don’t they take more pride in what they are doing? Billy was different. Billy has songs that reach people.”
IMG_1543
The demo tape was recorded on a worn out 4-track Fostex recording machine in Billy’s apartment. Billy played all of the instruments. Billy is a self taught musician and he used not only the common instruments such as drums, bass, guitar and keyboard, but also a mandolin, glockenspiel, bagpipe and harmonica. He also sang on the tape and did all the background harmonies which sometimes were as many as 5 and 6 parts. Bruce’s manager Tim Neece acquired a development deal with Capitol Records who advanced Billy money so that he could record his songs in a state of the art professional recording studio.
Because of the publicity of being discovered by Bruce Hornsby, Billy then received a management deal with Larrikin management (Gerry Georgettis, road manager for Pink Floyd, Tool, Cold Chisel, Sponge, Henry Rollins), but Bruce and his management company still continued to submit Billy’s songs to the major record labels from1992-1995.
However, in 1992 the industry had changed and the labels were only signing rap and grunge music and Yeager fell between the cracks, because he was an adult contemporary artist.

“Despite fans like Hornsby and dozens of encouraging letters from recording industry executives, he was not signed to a major record label. From a dresser drawer he takes out a letter written to him by an industry powerbroker. It is effusive in praising his talent, the quality of his tape, his great potential_and ends by saying there will be no offer forthcoming because there isn’t a hit single in the batch of tunes.” - Greg Baker
billy yeager songwriter
“His eclectic style made him difficult to categorize: rock and roll mixed with jazz alongside reggae rhythms and African pop influences, brooding ballads and high-energy hooks, a gravel-scratching voice backed by sweet harmonies. Lyrics that spanned the reaches from the romantically sentimental to the belligerently defiant. And that guitar_ one as supple and smooth as Herb Ellis, the next a raging reminder of Jimi Hendrix. And Yeager disliked the idea of being known for his guitar virtuosity alone.” Miami New Times

Jimmy’s Story is a combination of several film genres: documentary film, mockumentary, pseudo-docu, docu-fiction, and cinema verite.
'Jimmy Story' is the name of a fictional character that Yeager created for his film, in which a musician ponders the meaning of life.
“Billy Yeager’s Jimmy’s Story shows not only the trials and tribulations of the journey of trying to make it into the music industry, but also the triviality of the whole idea of becoming “somebody” special, of being a “star”. The film captures reflections of his childhood and the words of wisdom from his father, Ray Yeager.” Aaron Morris / Miami International Film Festival.

The film was featured on an edition of the Bravo/IFC cable show Split Screenhosted by John Pierson; the segment was filmed, edited and produced by Dan Myrick.
Jimmy’s Story also features many people, close friends and neighbors such as his landlord, who developed into one of the film’s most prominent characters in the movie.

Some of the most cherished segments that are featured throughout the film, which everyone loves, are Billy’s daily visits with the “Old Gang.” Everyday when Billy returned home from his early morning janitorial job, he would bring his cameras and head out to the infamous beach bench located on Jackson St., at Hollywood Beaches Broadwalk.

Billy filmed and recorded conversations with the Old Gang for over 12 years.
In the very beginning, there were 6  members, but as the years went by, they all passed away. Yeager kept recording until the last gang member was left alone.
Billy’s landlord also passed away, and his father Ray Yeager who died of cancer.

Dark hair and 6 feet 7 inches tall, with a homemade guitar made out of a dresser drawer, country singer and songwriter Ray Yeager stepped off the bus in Nashville, Tennessee, in 1965, and 5 minutes later he was signed to a 5-year recording contract with MGM Records.
Everyone who knew Ray believed he was going to be a big star, but it never happened, and Ray simply walked away from it all.
The film is a parable and a riddle. Throughout the film, Ray speaks from his own words of wisdom, about the small things in life and the meaning of success. In one scene Ray Yeager and his son sit in the cemetery by a tomb reflecting on the meaning of life, death, purpose, and acceptance.
Yeager chose to begin and end Jimmy’s Story with a quote from the book of Ecclesiastes: “all is vanity and chasing the wind.”

Creating a film with a vision.
Billy began to realize the negative corporate side of the music industry and began to loathe what he had once desired.
Understanding the significance of producing a film and presenting it to the public, and infused with a sense of purpose as an artist, Yeager decided he wanted to challenge the audience’s perception about fame and success, and society’s obsession with celebrities, while also exposing the media and the press that promote sensational news and trivial matters to the public.
In 1995 Billy began to incubate his “Jimi Hendrix / Jimmy Story performance art and pop culture / media protest.”
Billy dyed his skin black and promoted himself as Jimmy Story, “the long lost son of Jimi Hendrix.”

The Lost Bolero Tapes

Yeager wrote and recorded music which he called “The Bolero Tapes”; these recordings were supposed to be original Jimi Hendrix compositions that were lost.
Some publications wanted to get an opinion from the experts.
The music was forwarded to those who had closely worked with Jimi Hendrix such as  Buddy Miles and Mitch Mitchell.
Yeager’s songs sounded so much like Hendrix that the experts were convinced.
“Working as close to Jimi as I did, I would have to say, I know the Hendrix sound, if someone were to try to fake his music compositions, I would be the one who would know. This kid, son of his, whoever he is, the song “Devil’s got a Sweater” is definitely a Jimi Hendrix composition. There is no doubt in my mind.” – Buddy Miles
“Working with Jimi, listening to him jam, rehearse, write music, I know if I hear a song that was composed by Hendrix, I can tell instantly, from phrasing, chord structures, movements from bridge to chorus, etc. With regards to Jimmy Story and his mother Sunshine, I do not know about, but I can tell you, these songs cannot be faked. Jimi was working on music before he died called the Bolero Tapes, if this is the music and this is his son, from the musical stand point, there is no question about it, you can fake a guitar, maybe a little of his voice, but lyrics, and melody, it’s not possible, from what I hear this kid is the real deal, and I would love to play with him.”  – Mitch Mitchell, 1995
The rise to fame as Hendrix’s illegitimate son was a success; Yeager was featured as a “Cover Story” on WSVN (Miami television) and XS Magazine, Broward’s alternative newspaper. Billy filmed his “Jimi Hendrix / Jimmy Story performance art,” including the “behind the scenes” footage, to be edited into the film Jimmy’s Story.
hendrix_cover
“Undoubtedly, Story’s guitar playing is extraordinary. It’s certainly influenced, if not genetically driven, by Hendrix. It’s Story’s voice that is most convincing, a deep, mumbling inflection that will cause most listeners to do a double-take.” Bob Weinberg / XS Magazine
billy yeager performance artist
“They are blinded, but not with wine. They are drunk and they stagger, but not with wine. To whom shall I give the message? Whom shall speak the message?” Jimmy Story / XS Magazine
Jimmy’s Story was completed in 1997 and it premiered at the Palm Beach International Film Festival in 1998, winning “Best Documentary” award.
“An outstanding film that is a remarkable achievement, I can’t imagine how much work went into this very personal original film.” Heath McKnight (Awards ceremony at The Palm Beach International Film Festival)
From 1997 until 2003 Yeager edited over 6 different versions of the film.
The film was described as being  “epic in scale” and a “masterpiece.”
Glenn DeRosa was responsible for much of the filming of the Jimmy Story segments; Billy added Glenn as one of the producers of the film in 1996; Billy’s aunt Bunny Yeager was also an associate producer.
Rick McKay, the award winning filmmaker who is best known for his 2003 documentary “Broadway The Golden Age,” was responsible for discovering Jimmy’s Story.

“Billy was creating reality television way ahead of his time, I loved the film and I suppose you could thank me for being partially responsible for “Jimmy’s Story.” – Rick McKay

Rick McKay was also attending the Palm Beach International Film Festival with his film “Broadway The Golden Age” and read a small town newspaper article about Billy and his film Jimmy’s Story. Ironically, right after reading the story, he met Billy walking down the street in Lake Worth, Florida, where he was staying at the Gulfstream Motel.

Rick’s film was going to be screening at the DIFF a week later, and Rick asked Billy for a copy of his film. Unbeknownst to Billy, Rick secretly submitted Jimmy’s Storyto the Dahlonega International Film Festival.

Heralded as a major achievement Jimmy’s Story won an unprecedented 4-awards at the DIFF, including “Best First Film,” “Best Documentary,” “Best Folk Film” and ” Best First Time Director.”
Dean Treadway, the program director at the DIFF Film Festival stated, “This great film, this near masterpiece of amateur filmmaking, a Sundance reject that deserves to tower above most of their eventual winners, is about one man’s perseverance in believing that there is a better future out there, one that has him doing exactly what he feels he’s meant to do. Out of the 700 films submitted Jimmy’s Story is the one that moved me most to tears of joy and frustration.”

The Controversial “performance art work.”

Jimmy Story Hoax XS
However, there was a major fallout with the press, that did not embrace Yeager’s performance art work.
The press labeled Yeager’s performance art work simply as a “Hoax.”
Yet within that same retraction letter from XS Magazine they state that Yeager
“was correct” and “proved his point” in that celebrities are more revered than artists, that being famous doesn’t equate to being talented, that the “lost son” of Jimi Hendrix could get more attention than a local musician.”
Miami New Times writer Greg Baker was also quoted about Yeager’s 'Jimmy Story and media protest' saying that “I think Yeager wanted to use the media to achieve that end, tearing down the corrupt media industrial complex, which is contributing to the downfall of society, I am all for this sort of thing. I don’t think anybody did anything wrong.”
Over 20 years later, the media still tries to marginalize Yeager’s “media and pop culture protest”, of course…, after all, they are “the media.”

A PERFECT SONG

Yeager’s next feature film was called ‘A Perfect Song’ which he wrote, produced, directed, acted and also composed all the music.
The film was made with no money. Yeager shaved his head and gained 35 pounds for the lead role. He also performed the role of Lloyd’s brother which he filmed before he shaved his head.
Yeager won best actor at the Delray Beach Film Festival in 2004.
“This film has real charms, what’s great is the sincerity of a creative obsessive character playing a creative obsessive character musing about God and creativity. There are scenes of Lloyd producing ambient music in his gadget studio, plus delightful local color, including Florida fauna and a sympathetic tour of the legendary Coral Castle.”

The Highwaymen / The Other Side of the Road
billy yeager the highwaymen
In the early 1990’s an interest in “outsider art,” or art which is created by artists who are outside mainstream society, developed in the art world and in 1995 an article was written for a journal by Jim Fitch who coined the group the “Highwaymen” because of their tactics of traveling I-95 and A1A to sell their artwork.  Not long after this, the New York Times wrote an article on the Florida Highwaymen and two books on the group were published, causing the value of Florida Highwaymen art to skyrocket.
In 1999 Billy Yeager began to seek out all the existing members of the group, including many that were not mentioned in the books that were published.
In 2000 Yeager began painting with the infamous Florida Highwaymen and filmed a documentary called The Highwaymen / The Other Side of the Road.
Gary Brice was the production coordinator and cameraman. Together Gary Brice and Billy worked for over 1 year on the film.
Yeager is the only person ever to have painted with the original Highwaymen Livingston “Castro” Roberts. Yeager’s art is now collectable folk art because of the recognition of his films, music and humanitarian projects.

JESUS OF MALIBU

After completing Jesus of Malibu the Yeagers returned back to Florida to produce a documentary surf film resembling the old style surf films from the late 1950’s and 1960’s.
Drew Kampion former editor of SURFER , SURFING, and SURFERS PATH stated, “The wonderful thing about this creative product of the combined wills and imaginations of Anais and Billy Yeager is how profoundly it succeeds in quietly crystallizing an alternative reality in the here and now.”
The film was chosen for the NYC Surf Film Festival and Premiered in 2012.
